Open letter to Dr. Y Raja Sekhara Reddy

Dear YSR,

First of all my congratulations for guiding the congress party to victory in the recent elections and realizing your life long dream. The victory cannot be attributed for one single factor, but for many. It is not as if people of AP believed in Congress party so much, but because of their determination to get rid of the existing Mr. Naidu's publicity sans development government. To some extent it is your hard work that has helped achieving this victory and not the charisma of so-called Gandhi, as other leaders might say.

People are saying that you are a changed man now and I can say that you are one of the few politicians in AP who is sincere and will adhere to the principles you believe, no matter what others think. First of all please make your government a non-corruptive and stable one that reaches common man rather than limiting only to particular segment.

It is astonishing to see the statistics that in the last 9 years AP has received more money from central government in funds, than any other three southern states but still the growth rate is less than half that of Kerala. Ironically Kerala received less than 50% of the central funds compared to AP. And we all know where this money has gone. While farmers in AP were committing suicides Mr. Naidu was knocking the doors of F-1 directors. Rather than helping the farmers, one stupid minister was wise enough to make comments that farmers are committing suicides because they don't have any other work to do. As you came from a peasant's family I hope you will keep the plight of farmers in mind.

However there are some good aspects in Mr Naidu's governance. The state was peaceful with out any communal riots; good schemes such as Janmabhoomi and Food-for-work were introduced and technology is well utilized to make the governing process easier. And I wish the peace in the state would not be disturbed for political gains of some leaders as in the case of 1994.

The naxalite issue is one that has to be taken care of immediately. Most People in AP are wondering whether their motives are legitimate are not. The next one is the tricky concept of Telangana. Please deal carefully with it because it might be created for selfish gains of some leaders. But if people of Telangana are really better off by having their own state then the state has to be separated only after keeping in mind the vested interests of all people in AP. I hope you can bring an amicable solution to both these problems.

And lastly coming to your election promise of free electricity to the poor, I came to know that it's not an un-attainable one and AP Transco already has a feasible solution to this. Now people of AP are looking towards your leadership to change their flagging fortunes. After all they only want to see their state as best in the country and not as Japan. So I wish you all the best for your future endeavors.
