Hemanth Madhukar is making his debut as Telugu film director with Vastadu Naa Raju movie. He has made a Bollywood flick titled ‘A Flat’ in the last year. Here are the excerpts chitchat -

Background:
I am from in a film family and my dad late Shri K.Baburao was a veteran film producer (Rama Vijetha Films) and director. I was born in Chennai and did my schooling and college in Chennai. I wanted to become a scientist but my father’s sudden demise had put me in financial stress. And all my dad friendsi have advised me to join any director as an assistant so that I can become a director. I assisted Raviraja Pinisetty for many films and later assisted young directors who are my friends. I have decided to direct a film independently at one point of time and went to Mumbai in search of a producer to direct a Hindi film. I have met Anjum Rizvi who was producing A Wednesday at that time. He liked my script and I made my first Hindi film ‘A Flat’ which was acclaimed critically.

How did you get the opportunity of directing VNR?
BVS Ravi and Kona Venkat came to Mumbai and asked me if I have any script for Telugu. I have narrated them a script and they liked it very much. BVS RavI introduced me to Vishnu and he is impressed with the story. The project started rolling.

What is VNR all about?
V N R is a different love story with loads of humor. You will enjoy it thoroughly for Telugu two and half hours. Working with Mohan Babu garu and his crew was a pleasure. I have learnt to be disciplined with this movie.

You have directed a Hindi film and a Telugu film. How different are the Telugu and Hindi film industries?
There is a big difference between Bollywood and Tollywood. Each and every technician is completely trained and educated in Bollywood. And they don't let their egos dominate their work. They are pretty much organised. These qualities are missing in Tollywood.

Any tips from your side to the youngsters about film direction?
My advice to youngsters is work in direction department for some movies before making films independently. Nobody is going to teach you direction here. One has to learn it out of one’s own interest. Read a lot and watch loads of movies.

What are your future projects?
My next project is going to be a Hindi one titled ‘7 Colors of Love’. There is going to be an announcement of my next Telugu film soon and its going to be an action thriller.
