Open letter to Telugu film industry on remakes

Hi,

This letter is to all the people who are associated with the imperial Telugu film Industry. As a deep lover and ardent fan of the Telugu cinema, the theta Telugu language I honestly request all of you to kindly apply the creativity which is the basic necessity in the movie\art industry. I hope you understood what I am trying to convey! I am referring to the so called REMAKES being made in the Telugu cinema. Most of the people in the world know that CUT/COPY PASTE is the easiest job in the world. Agreed and its true may be in all other industries but certainly not in the movie/art industry which strongly relies on creativity aspect. You are the chosen ones to entertain the crowds and we all believe you are in that industry because you have the required talent to think something new and create an entertainment out of it. Now you can very well ask "Are the audience bothered whether the film has been remade or copied from some where. They just go there to get entertainment and nothing else". Yes agreed and true, but only to a certain extent. We have a pride dont we? Our telugu film industry has delivered out some Gems out to the world like Sankarabharanam, Sagarasangamam, Sirivennela in the past to name a few and recently Annamayya, KshanaKhsanam, Tholi Prema, Missamma, Jayam, Okkadu, Manmadhudu, Santhosham, Arya e.t.c. These films made us proud and boast about the Telugu industry the actors and the talented technicians we posses in our state. But being the number of films being REMADE are more then the original ones the hard work our people is not getting the deserved recognition.

At this time I will tell you guys why I resorted to writing this letter "When we were watching our "Veede" movie one day, two of my friends one who happens to be a Tamilian and the other from Mumbai asked me a common question "WHICH TAMIL MOVIE IS THIS?".I had to answer them with a not so smiling face "Yeah. This is Dhool in Tamil. "Then they continued "Oh is that so ? We heard that all Vikram's films in Tamil are being remade in Telugu. Correct? He is the number one there. May be thats why!!" The Mumbaite asked "But is the same case with Chiranjeevi's films in Telugu too?". Before I could answer him something the Tamilian added "No! No! Same case there also. Chiranjeevi also does a lot of remakes. His recent major hit Tagore is a remake of a Tamil movie called Ramana." Well if you put yourself into my shoes, its not so good to feel right? I know certainly it will not be. Why cant we do the necessary home work to make a film? Certainly the home-work is not to watch for a Tamil film getting released and buying the remake rights for it. Sadly even the biggest stars of Telugu cinema are also relying on remakes. Think about the recent films of Rajani like Muthu, Baasha, Arunachalam, Padayappa and Baaba. Everything was thought about well and executed. If Rajani deserves to be a hero for whose film a lot of preparation would be done the same is very well true and applicable to our Megastar Chiru. Sadly he also listens to a lot of stories and finally resorts to a remake project.

So my humble request to all the producers of the Telugu films, kindly encourage creativity and talent. Pride & prestige, Money and profits would certainly follow. Let the most eligible films be remade and shown to the Telugu audience. Probably Tagore, ShankarDada MBBS falls in this category. Munnabhai was a master piece and the mumbai accent hindi language would not have appealed to all the Telugu people. Such kind of message oriented and comedy stuff is well deserved to be remade. So once again I humbly request you all WE DONT WANT DUBBED AND REMADE FILMS. We want to have the pride and preserved for the Telugu film industry.
