Rahul and his buddies (Sree Vishnu, Priyadarshi and Rahul Ramakrishna) fail to clear intermediate through their classmates have almost graduated. Mithra (Nivetha Thomas) is the daughter of the principle. She is interested in classical dance, but her father forces her to concentrate on studies. Rahul becomes friends with Mithra and wants to help her out. Rest of the story is all about how his perfect plan ends up becoming a big blunder and how he comes out of it to correct himself.
Actors: Sree Vishnu has a unique body language and he fits in certain characters perfectly. The character of Rahul is perfect for him (underdog character with a bit of comedy and righteousness). He is very good. The entire story revolves around Nivetha Thomas’s character and she did well. Priyadarshi and Rahul Ramakrishna are in their elements and provide good entertainment. Satyadev Kancharana is good as a wannabe director. Nivetha Pethuraj has done a character of limited screen time. KS Iyengar and Sivaji Raja are good as parents of leads. Harshavardhan adds some comedy to his role of cop. Ajay Ghosh’s criminal character has a superstitious touch to it.
Story - screenplay - direction: It’s a kidnap drama. Storyline is simple. It is the screenplay that made this simple storyline into an interesting viewing. The way director connected Satyadev and Nivetha Pethuraj to the main plot of the film is good. There is enough comedy in the beginning of the film (especially classroom episodes). He has created the right circumstances for the heroine to get fed up with father. However, how father changes his perception about daughter towards climax is unconvincing. We have seen many kidnap comedies, but Brochevarevura has a different style and stays away from Telugu crime comedy cliches. The director has ended the film in the right way by making the hero a moralistic guy.
Other departments: Background music by Vivek Sagar is good. Vagalaadi song is nice. Cinematography by Sai Sriram is fine. Dialogues are natural and deliver desired impact. Editing is alright. Production design is decent. Production values by Manyam Productions are good.
Analysis: We have seen many crime comedies with kidnap episodes since Money in Telugu. It’s a genre that’s pretty familiar. However, director Vivek Athreya has used an interesting screenplay coupled with right actors to narrate this simple story in an engaging manner. Plus points of the film are screenplay, casting and entertainment. On the flipside, the movie pacing slows down once the twists are revealed. On a whole, Brochevarevarura is a decent kidnap drama!
