Jayandra - a veteran ad-film maker who has over 500 ad-films to his credit is making his debut as a feature film director with 180 (Ee Vayasika Raadu). This film is releasing in Telugu and Tamil on 25 June. He is our exclusive interview with Jayendra -

What is the reason for making your debut as feature film director at this age?
I had directed over 500 ad-films in my career. I found a company called Real Image Media which has pioneered in implementing digital projection (QUBE). Films have always been my passion, but found time to direct a film now.

Tell us about 180 film
Life is not lived thinking about yesterday or planning for tomorrow but living in the moment and appreciating it. This is the concept of the movie. We (me and Shuba) have worked on this script for two years. It is a kind of story that springs pleasant surprises as the movie progresses. It is a genuine story. 180 is beyond romance and it holds you as a film. It is important that the audiences should not be revealed the story of the movie beforehand. Hence I have requested the reviewers in Telugu and Tamil not to reveal the story in their reviews.

Tell us about the technical achievements in the movie?
This film is shot in RED digital camera, but the output of the film is at par with any high quality physical print. We have also used Phantom Flex camera that is capable of shooting upto 2570 frames per second (normal framerate is 24 frames per second). We have shot an entire song using this camera. Though I have used new technologies to shoot this movie, I feel that the main strength of the movie is the idea and content.

Balki too made a debut like you with Cheeni Kum after achieving a lot in advertising field and his movies have flavor of Mani Ratnam. Do you have any inspirations while making 180 movie?
When I watch a film, I watch it as an audience. I don’t watch it from the filmmaker point of view. Balki has been a great friend of mine. But 180 will not have neither inspirations not references.

What is your gut feel on the movie?
First half of the movie will be breezy. Half of the second half will have entertainment and the remaining half will be emotional. It is a wholesome and different film.
