Shankar (Ram) is a street goon and he gets a contract to kill a famous person. When Shankar goes into hiding, the CBI team led by Arun (Satyadev) searches for him. Something drastic happens when their paths meet. Sandhya (Nidhi Agarwal) is a neuroscientist and she helps Shankar out in a vital mission. Rest of the story is all about how Shankar achieves what he sets out for!
Ram: Ram goes through an amazing transformation as a street rowdy from old city. His styling is excellent and dialogue delivery is superb. He owned the character and created a style for himself with this character. All of Ram’s earlier mass films have normal template and normal looks. This film unveils a new Ram in a mass avatar. Ram brings a lot of swag in his mass mannerisms in this character. There is innocence and adorable foolishness to the character and Ram makes sure that it’s represented well through his body language and dialogue delivery. The swag of Ram in the climax of the film (shot in ghats of Varanasi) resembles that of a rockstar performing in a concert. 
Others: Nabha Natesh did a mass character. She oozes glamour and did well. Nidhi Agarwal ’s role in little classy and she is pretty good. Sayaji Shinde played the character of a senior CBI officer. Satyadev Kancharana suited the role of investigating officer to a T. It's mellowed down character for Asish Vidyardhi. Deepak Shetty makes his presence felt in a vital role.
Story - screenplay - direction: It’s a typical Puri Jagan story of a small time rowdy. What makes this story different is the ‘double dimak’ concept. Double Dimak tweak gives an opportunity to play around with screenplay and generate entertainment and engaging narration in second half. Puri Jagan is in his element. And he invests heavily on his strengths - heroism and entertainment. The Telangana dialect gives a freshness to this mass film. Puri Jagan can have a sigh of relief now as he had been having a bad time at the box office after Temper.
Other departments: Background music by Mani Sharma is terrific. Title song, Dhimaak Kharab (DJ song) and Undipo (Bollywood style composition and rendition) are good on screen. Cinematography by Raj Thota is very good. Dialogues written by Puri Jagan are one of the assets to the film. Action choreography Real Satish are extremely massy and effective. Production design is commendable. Editing is fine. Production values are excellent.
Analysis: iSmart Shankar title and promotions indicate to us that it’s a mass film. ‘A’ certificate is given for adult (violence and double meaning dialogues) content. Plus points of the film are Ram’s terrific work, Puri Jagan dialogues/direction and entertaining screenplay in 2nd half (Double Dhimaak concept). Ram has been struggling to find a footing as a solid mass hero for some time and this film gives him a position as mass star. iSmart Shankar gives much needed respite for Puri Jagan as a filmmaker. On a whole, iSmart Shankar is a feast to the masses!
