Review

Story
Raghava (Anand Deverakonda) is a small town boy near Guntur. His parents run a tiffin centre. Raghava’s dream is to start a tiffin centre in Guntur and make it successful. He falls in love with his sister-in-law and classmate Sandhya during college days. But, he had to stay away from her due to a mistake. Raghava’s parents are genuine and Sandhya’s father is manipulative. Rest of the story is all about how Raghava makes his dream come true and then convinces the father of Sandhya.

Artists Performance
Anand Deverakonda looks his part and does well. He is very natural as a boy next door. Varsha Bollamma is good as the girl who is torn between an ambitious boyfriend and a manipulative father. The director should be commended for casting new/unfamiliar faces. All the actors cast in this film are very authentic. The highlight among the actors is Goparaju Ramana who played the role of hero’s father. His dialogue delivery and Guntur dialect is perfect (and reminded me of the perfection we expect from Kota Srinivasa Rao in dialogue modulation). Chaitanya Garikapati is good as the hero's buddy. Surabhi Padmavathi is extremely natural as the hero's mother. Prem Sagar is very good as a manipulative father. Director Tharun Bhascker did a cameo in the climax. All the characters speak Guntur dialect in a genuine way.

Technical departments

Story - screenplay - direction: The story of the film is simple. But what made a huge difference to the film are characterizations and writing. Each character is very well established. Each character has an introduction, an arc and a proper finishing (including small characters like milk supplier Anjaiah). Guntur town also plays a character in the film. It adds a new dimension to the narration/story. Director Vinod Ananthoju is a good find for the Telugu film industry. He has excelled in narrating a simple story in an interesting style and in a natural way. He brings the charm of the place to the film and makes us like it. Screenplay is good.

Other departments: Janardhan Pasumarthi deserves a big hand for his work of story, screenplay (shared) and dialogues. Dialogues are very good. The proverbs (samethalu) written through dialogues are very funny. Cinematography by Sunny Kurapati is good. Songs scored by Sweekar Agasthi are very melodious and peppy. Guntur theme song is the best among them. Background score by RH Vikram is very good and he draws inspiration from European film background music. Editing by Raviteja Girijala is crisp. Artdirection is authentic. Lyrics are good. Bhavya Creations banner that has been in industry for a long time has come up with a film that connects with everybody irrespective of the class.

Analysis: Middle Class Melodies surprises everybody with simplicity, freshness and entertainment. The best part of the film is casting and each and every character makes a definite impact. Direction is good and the screenplay is engaging. Would have given a great theatrical experience if this film would have been released in theatre. The biggest takeaway from this film is the character/actor of KondalRao (Goparaju Ramana). On a whole, Middle Class Melodies is a well made film. Watch it!
